Hans Breder: INMIXING

Head down to the lower east side with Craig and Coltrane around 730, to the White Box (329 Broome St.), for an opening reception to see a comprehensive survey of early to recent media works by the seminal pioneer of Intermedia art, Hans Breder. Old guy born in Germany, his work has been featured in three Whitney Biennials (1987, 1989, 1991). The title of the show references the Lacanian term of "inmixing," described by Herman Rapaport as the "extradimensionality that is made possible by introducing a lack, break, knot, or fold that is the mark of the subject: its signifer." The shit is crazy, see picture above. Have some wine, mingle for a little, meet the old bastard, and we is out!
Meet Rashid, an old friend of Craig's, who is an awesome French guy who owns a building (where he has lived for over twenty years) in the East Village. He meets us at the opening and we walk over to Spur Tree (Orchard, btw Broome & Grand), a lounge Craig owned a long time ago, around the time I was, like, three years old. Rashid buys for us four bottles of Pinot Noir, and I'm sufficiently drunk by the time we leave. Also meet Craig's beautiful, beautiful friend, Minos -- she is American! but looks Swedish-German. She also looks twenty-seven (but she's not). Super cool peoples. Leave Spur Tree around 1030, walk Rashid half-way home, and the four of us yellow-hop up to 999. See my new girlfriend, Salty Salt McGalts, with another guy! but it's cool, I trust her. I will see her again later. Couple of beers, J, then out. Meet up with my GF at Campo for a drink -- at this point I don't know how I'm still alive -- then I go home and, after a delicious mona lisa and digusting cheese fries from HamDel, I'm in bed by 2. I have a headache and feel like shit today.
