Wake up at 3pm yesterday.Previous night is P-Bear's 23rd, which we celebrate at Brother Jimmy's on the UES. Party all night, bed at 7. So I wake up at 3pm yesterday afternoon and make myself some eggs (scrambled) and bacon; it seems like all I am eating these days are bacon and eggs, with some dat cheese, too.
Head downtown at around 630 to El Cantinero (University Pl., btw 11th & 12th) to meet up with some friends from NYU - $4 everything/anything, happy hour all night. Two beers and I'm in a cab to the East Village, to an opening/gathering/drinking for Salon 13, a legit new beauty salon started by Greenhouse bartender Seamus Regan. A wide range of awesome people, old and young, drink Maker's Mark and white wine, and cram into the cozy salon-converted-bar for an hour or two. Craig's got the Mercedes van parked outside, and it is in the van that people gather to smoke cigarettes and converse, all the while simply trying to escape the weather's icy chill. The open bar continues across the street at Luca Lounge (Ave B, btw 13th & 14th). Vanessa (a Perrier promoter) and I meet Kate, a hot/nerdy lesbian bartender who we take pictures with. At the bar a piece of candle wax actually falls into my Maker's Mark. I get a new one. I am drunk already, and it's only 10pm. Stay for a minute, then we're off to 230 Fifth (rooftop bar/penthouse lounge) on 27th & 5th. Thought Lady Gaga was going to be there, but Melle Mel (main songwriter for Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five) instead. Whatever! He is A Granddaddy of hip-hop --> see 1982 The Message. Horchata, Rufus, Lisa Leslie, and Cherry Island meet us there, literally as we pull up. Check ID's and we elevate city to the 20th fl. Sick views of the Met Life building and Empire State city, total unobstruction. Leave not too late, around 130, I am wasted. It's been a long 48hrs. Time to detox/sleep/eat/recover. Blends.
