So I've already slacked on the new blog, but sometimes you get that one-of-a-kind feeling inside you, and there's just no way you can't write. Tonight is one of those nights. It's a few days post-title, but I thought I'd write a little bit about the long weekend I've had, thanks to those in the class of 1968.
Friday night we hosted a Halloween party in our suite -- I was Harry Potter (isn't that obvious?) -- and though I won't get into specifics, it was clearly the best party ever. Just kidding, but it was pretty damn fun. I'd like to give a shout-out to those who made the party worthwhile. I thought I was headed to Brooklyn for a loooong night; instead, 9 & 3/4 was where I stayed. Oh, and 1020. And some other places. Blends, blends, blends. Kids rocked their costumes, people consumed heavy doses of HI-YO! and all was orange & black, though it was Columbia BLUE that shined through at the Ivy League Heptagonal Men's Cross Country championships, narrowly beating Princeton earlier in the day, 60-61, and winning the championship for the first time in four years! Congrats, fellas, Princeton sucks. Special congratulations to Sweats, I love you. I really wish I could write some of the blends that occurred between 1020 and 7am, but I just can't. BLENDS. Let's just say dancing on the tables at 1020 is frowned upon, though it WAS mischief night.
The actual day of Halloween came and went, the night before having left most of us either for dead or gone, compelling us to watch scary movies through the day and night.
Sunday morning: NYC marathon. First American champion in 27 years, MEB! Six Americans in the top 10, fucking legit. Ran with Sweats along Central Park and saw some of the blends, as per usual, and would like to declare my intention to run ING 2010. Just kidding! But, maybe.
I'm home in NJ ahora. Rufus and Horchata spent a solid 24 hours here, minus the fact that Rufus got some bad stomach blends and spent the night feeling not too hot. Breakfast this morning at the TP, some hometown exploration and Charlie Bartlett. Then I crushed them both in Monolopy -- one day I will build a similar empire (they'll be part of it, though). Dinner and they were off! Miss all my 9 & 3/4 blends.
Will be back in NY on Wednesday.
